Where do you want 2022 to bring you?
Every New Year’s Eve most of us announce to ourselves, to our friends, to our social media followers, to our pets, that the New Coming Year is going to be “our year”.
We are going to get fitter, healthier and FINALLY do the things in life we want to do! As a result, you see things like a spike in gym memberships or a revamped social media page.
For many, this tradition is an committed attempt to improve their quality of life. All around the world right now people are asking themselves, what do I want my 2022 to look like? How can I improve my day-to-day in 2022? Perhaps the best way to achieve a better quality of life is by addressing your work-life balance. With this in mind, this article will look at why becoming a Reflexologist can help you have more Free Time in 2022.
Take Control of your Own Time….
So, I’m going to assume your current job requires you to turn up at the same time every day, work a set amount of hours per day, usually 8, and you likely do the same tasks every day.
Adding to this, you also are duty-bound to your boss. All of this means that the amount of money you earn, the way you spend most of your time, even when you wake up & eat your lunch, are entirely decided for you.
When you break it down like that it sure does seem like an odd way to live. Certainly not an ideal work-life balance.
Well, what if I told you there was a better way? A career where you can set your hours, work as much as you’d like, set your prices, and work during the times of the day that suit you best. All while providing a much needed service to people in need? No, it’s not some Ponzi scheme, it’s the fast-rising industry of Reflexology!
How can Reflexology give me My Time Back?
For clients, Reflexology is a touch therapy based on the belief that certain points on the feet, hands, and legs connect and influence other areas of the body. Reflexology is also a complimentary, non-invasive form of therapy that can aid in stress relief, promote deep relaxation, general wellbeing, and can be a key factor in bone health.
For you, Reflexology offers you the opportunity to be your own boss in 2022 and beyond.
As a certified Reflexologist you will be in control of your schedule, this immediately sets you up for a better work-life balance.
You will promote your services online and via local advertisements, and allow you to schedule appointments at times that work for you. With this in mind, you can schedule as many, or as few appointments each day as you see fit. You can also decide what days you take off, no more “working for the weekend” your weekend can be whatever days you want. And the best part? You can change it around whenever you like!
Be fulfilled in Your Career
Maybe a better work-life balance isn’t your highest desire for what the New Year can bring you. Maybe you’d prefer to simply be working in an industry that provides a helpful service. Before becoming a Reflexologist, I worked in a Call Center. The work was fine and I enjoyed spending time with my colleagues, some of the customers I spoke with were genuinely enjoyable people, and overall it was not the worst job in the world.
However, I could not escape one constant thought, nothing I’m doing here matters. If I didn’t show up to work, Lucy from Sheffield would still get her issue resolved. If the company went under, Lucy would buy her items somewhere else.
My day to day life was mostly spent ticking boxes on digital forms and logging statistics that didn’t matter beyond the company’s in-house performance system. I began to feel like there was no point to my job, it didn’t matter. Which made me wonder, what does that say about me? Leaving that job to become a Reflexologist changed that.
As a Reflexologist, your clients are people dealing with chronic pain, such as arthritis patients. You will also assist people who deal with high levels of stress. You could also help people who have suffered certain injuries while playing sports, or while at work. As a result, your job boils down to helping improve other people’s quality of life. All while improving your own also! I went from assisting folk in the buying of plastic cups, to helping relieve anxiety symptoms in multiple clients every day. Perhaps the most rewarding aspect of this was getting to see the product of my labour. As my clients came back for follow-up visits, I could both see, feel, and hear how they are improving. I could experience first-hand the benefit I was having on these people’s lives. Now, I can’t believe I had spent 5 years answering calls when I could have been making such a positive change to the people within my community.
Reflexology is a client-based industry, this means you get to meet lots of new people. This in itself can be rewarding as you may speak with people from different backgrounds, with different interests, and from different generations to you. From my clients, I have learned a great number of things, such as what Ireland was like in the 50s from an older client, to how TikTok works from a teenager. A lot of office jobs can be very limiting and can mean you only socialise with the people you work with and see every day. As a Reflexologist, you can expand your horizons, learn new things, and gain a deeper understanding of the world around you. Talk about “New Year, New Me,” eh?
Don’t just read this and don’t do anything…
