Holistic therapy course questions, answered

Pyramid Holistic Training Centre runs iTEC, VTCT skills & FHT accredited holistic therapy training in Donegal and Mullingar, Ireland. Below are the questions we're asked most about accreditation, course length, fees, entry requirements and what happens after you qualify.

Accreditation

What is iTEC accreditation?

iTEC is an international awarding body for complementary therapy and beauty qualifications. An iTEC diploma is recognised internationally and nationally, which is what lets you insure your practice and work professionally with clients.

What is FHT?

FHT, the Federation of Holistic Therapists, is the largest professional association for holistic therapists in the UK and Ireland. Our tutor is FHT accredited, and FHT membership is the route most graduates use for professional insurance.

What is the difference between a diploma and a short course?

A diploma is a full practitioner qualification: theory, practical assessment, anatomy and physiology, and case studies with real clients. A short course is a certificated single treatment you add to an existing practice, like Indian Head Massage.

Are the qualifications recognised outside Ireland?

Yes. iTEC diplomas are internationally and nationally accredited and are recognised in many countries.

Will insurers accept the qualification?

Yes. Our practitioner-level diplomas are accepted by therapy insurers, which is the point of taking an accredited course rather than an unaccredited one.

Courses & study

How long does a diploma take?

Diplomas typically run across around nine months, combining in-person practical days with theory study and case studies you complete between sessions.

Do I need any experience to start?

No. Our diplomas are designed to take complete beginners to practitioner level. Many students are career changers with no therapy background at all.

Is Anatomy & Physiology included?

Yes. Anatomy & Physiology at Level 5 is studied alongside every practitioner diploma. If you already hold an equivalent qualification, tell us on your advisory call.

How big are the class sizes?

Small. Practical holistic therapy has to be taught hands-on, so groups are kept small enough for individual correction and feedback.

Is anything taught online?

Practical training is in person. The Award in Education & Training is delivered fully online with monthly Zoom meetings, and IET runs as certified weekend training across three levels.

When is the next intake?

Intakes run through the year at both locations. We confirm the next available start date for your course on your free advisory call.

Fees & payment

How much do the courses cost?

Fees vary by course, diplomas, foundation modules and short courses are priced differently, and we confirm the exact fee for your chosen course and intake on your free advisory call, along with what's included.

Can I pay in instalments?

Payment plans are available. We'll walk through the instalment options for your course on the advisory call before you commit to anything.

Is there anything extra to buy?

Any kit, oils or exam fees relevant to your course are confirmed up front on your advisory call, so there are no surprises after you enrol.

Locations

Where do you teach?

Donegal and Mullingar, Ireland. Students travel to whichever location suits them; both are taught by the same accredited tutor to the same standard.

Do you take students from outside those counties?

Yes. Because practical days are grouped rather than weekly, students regularly travel from surrounding counties to train with us.

After you qualify

Do you help me get clients afterwards?

Yes. That is what the Business Support Programme is for, a branded booking system, a CRM and marketing support so you leave with a practice, not just a certificate.

What do graduates go on to do?

Graduates open their own treatment rooms, work in clinics and spas, combine several modalities into one signature client programme, or add accredited treatments to an existing practice.

Can I combine more than one qualification?

Most of our strongest practitioners do. We help you combine modalities into a single personalised programme you can price and market as your own.
